Michael Connely has provided voters with clear stances on key issues by responding to the 2024 Political Courage Test.
| Pro-life | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade? | ||
| Regardless of one's stance on abortion, the massive power grab by the Federal government must be stopped. In our country, each state reigned supreme. Our Federal government was made primarily for mutual defense of all the states and also to make decisions when there were disputes between different states. We are slowly shifting back to the same time of governmental control that our ancestors left in Europe. Roe v. Wade was the Federal government yanking power away from the states. Regardless of your beliefs, overruling Roe v. Wade gave all of us more freedom by shifting power to the states where it belongs. AS FOR ABORTION...One must wonder, what is the state of mind that a woman must be in to get rid of her own children. Remember that it got so bad that as a woman (not a birthing peron, a woman) was delivering her child, the abortionist would turn the child around so its feet would come out first, then shoot the baby in the back of the head, suck out the brain tissue (to be sold later) collapse the skull and pull out the murdered baby. Partial birth abortion is what that slaughter is called. Everyone knows that killing an unborn child is evil. We must find what factors in our society have convinced a mother that killing off children, primarily because of inconvenience, is acceptable? We must find those factors and eliminate them and also be so supportive of expectant mothers than they never need to fear having their children. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals? | ||
| I think it would be BEST to have ALL campaign financing stop. Let individuals have a few in depth forums where constituents can meet them and learn about them. As it stands now, winners are almost entirely based on the ability to fund raise by promising future legislation to large corporations, unions etc. It is approved corruption. | |||
| Yes | Do you support protecting government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct? | ||
| If we do not protect government officials, especially law enforcement, from personal liability, then those individuals are too fearful to adequately perform their functions. Look at the George Floyd case. When toxicology reports came in, it was found that Floyd died of a drug overdose, probably from quickly swallowing anything he had in his possession in order to not be charged with it. A police officer was sentenced (murder) for following standard police procedures. He did not kills George Floyd and the autopsy proved it. We MUST protect law enforcement and protect public officials from potential weaponization of the justice department. | |||
| No | Do you support increasing defense spending? | ||
| We left billions of dollars of our weapons in enemy hands. We do need to spend money on our military to protect ourselves from Chinese expansion, but first we must streamline what we have and replace many of the commanders that were promoted by Obama. We are spread too thin through the world in areas where we do not need to be. We are trying to change and Americanize cultures that have existed for thousands of years. First we need to revamp our internal education and culture as MOST young people cannot pass minimum standards to enter our military. Throwing money at this is like throwing money into education when people start failing. FIRST policies need changed then we can spend money developing our military. | |||
| No | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth (e.g. grants, tax incentives)? | ||
| No | Do you support the federal government increasing funding for affordable housing programs? | ||
| No | Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation? | ||
| Our Federal government regularly messes things up. Let's look at economic growth first. Who decides which parts of the economy get promoting. This stinks of corruption and payoffs, so no to this. NEXT... We do not need the government to dabble in affordable housing, we need simplified regulations so private businesses can develop simple and affordable housing. NEXT... As mentioned before, the Feds mess us most things they try. Let market forces determine what happens. | |||
| No | Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt? | ||
| Absolutely not. This will encourage a massive amount of future student debt believing that once again it will be forgiven. THEN what about all those who paid off their debts, and those who never took out the debt. This is corruption and buying votes, nothing less. | |||
| Yes | Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls? | ||
| Not only do I support voter ID requirements, but I want to eliminate all drop off boxes, eliminate mail in ballots except for active duty military, and eliminate ALL vote counting machines and electronic voting. Paper ballots, hand counted only and voting to be done on ONE day only. | |||
| No | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal government allowing permits for drilling on public lands? | ||
| I LIKE having research into the development of renewable energy, but private enterprise will do this if the government keeps its hands out of it. If a private firm does develop some renewable energy source, I AM for loan guarantees for that company from the government. As for drilling on public lands... OF COURSE. Currently there is a war in Ukraine. The Russians only wage war to annex surrounding areas when the price of oil is high. If we drill many more wells, it will drop the price of oil, it will lower our costs, it will bankrupt the Russians so they cannot afford to wage war. YES Drill.... | |||
| No | Do you generally support gun-control legislation (e.g. red flag laws, boyfriend loopholes)? | ||
| I recently heard reports of a mass stabbing incident in Australia and I have seen the same reports in Japan and other countries that have strict gun controls. There will always be mentally unhinged people who will kill others. I believe we need MORE guns and MORE protectors in our society to defend against the unhinged and violent people. | |||
| No | Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All? | ||
| No | Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)? | ||
| No | Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs? | ||
| The more that Feds get into things, the more problems they create. I know health care professionals who have a hard time getting paid since Obamacare came into existence. Imagine what things would be like if the Feds ran all health care. WOW... Let the marketplace decide family benefits. Companies that provide better benefits will attract better workers. It is easy to see benefits of various companies. The government does not need to interfere. In other countries when the government is NOT involved, prescription drug costs are low. | |||
| Yes | Do you support increasing security along the southern US border? | ||
| Yes | Do you support requiring immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship, regardless of their immigration status? | ||
|
|||
| I support a strong border with a 100% deportation rate of anyone crossing our border illegally. This should never be tolerated. In many countries, you are shot on sight if you cross a border illegally. As for the second question, it is vague and misleading. Rewrite it please. | |||
| No | Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts? | ||
| No | Do you support the US providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine? | ||
| I have seen SO many economic sanctions in my life and ALL have been mostly or completely ineffective. Countries simply buy things from other places. I will not get into details but this should ONLY be used in a fast crippling manner with no projections in case of imminent war. As for Ukraine.... We, the USA (Biden Administration) prompted the Russians to attack by setting up Biowarfare labs in Ukraine. What would we do if Russia set up Biowarfare labs in Mexico. We then said we were thinking of brining Ukraine into NATO. What would WE do if Russia became close allies with Mexico and starting setting up missile systems near our border.! THEN, Biden intentionally forced up the price of oil. Russia only attacks and annexes when the price of oil is high so they can afford the war. If we are REALLY serious about ending the war, we need to drill, drill , drill and drop the price of oil so the Russians cannot afford to wage war. Oil is is their lifeblood. Instead we abandoned billions of dollars of equipment in Afghanistan (which could have been given to Ukraine) and we enrich the Russians who do not care about the body count. They want to annex the oil rich areas to give themselves more power in the future. NO do not give money to Ukraine just so we can lose it. We CAN win against the Russians but giving money to Ukraine is not one of the ways to do it. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support increased regulations on social media companies (e.g. Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.)? | ||
| I was RECENTLY banned from Facebook by reporting (eyewitness) facts about immigrants flown into a regional airport in the early morning hours. I would require a COMPLETELY open forum except that those under 16 years old should have NO access at all to social media. | |||
| 1. Expose and counter the Communist Chinese threat. It is extensive and widespread including funded riots, the massive surge of Chinese Reserve Military crossing our southern border, reports of Chinese military forward operating bases within our borders, drug production with joint Cartel operations, their push to force unreliable power sources which would weaken our energy grid, the theft of intellectual property. The list is extensive. We are in an undeclared state of war with China and we MUST recognize it. 2. Elimination of multiple departments of our Federal government. Some need to be completely archived and eliminated, while others need to be turned into a small office within the Department of Interior. We MUST turn our budget deficit into a budget surplus and begin paying down our debt or we WILL lose the World Reserve Currency status. 3. Cleaning up of the justice department. This includes an immediate release of ALL J6 political prisoners and removal of all justice officials who stripped away the constitutional rights of those political prisoners. The ATF needs to be eliminated. They recently executed another civilian (airport executive) in his home in an early morning raid. The FBI needs to have its wings clipped and lose ALL arresting authority and be given ONLY the power to investigate and submit findings to state and local law enforcement agencies. |
